Goole’s Christmas Crackers
A special mini festival of 13 Christmas events is taking place in Goole across 8 venues over 11 days in December. ‘Goole’s Christmas Crackers’ was devised by Goole Renaissance and partners to showcase a selection of arts, events and magical moments with a festive theme.
Christmas Crackers offers something for everyone from families with toddlers to teenagers and older generations. We wanted to create mini magical moments for Goole’s residents to enjoy together. The idea came from what’s known as a Living Advent Calendar. Our interpretation this year is a range of mini entertainment and activities that people can come along to enjoy or even take part in if they’d like to. We’re celebrating a range of art forms from Christmas poetry and acoustic performances to pantomime and funny tales across a range of venues from West Park to Costa Coffee.
Performances and events range from 5 minutes to a couple of hours with the opportunity to choose how long you’d like to stay and enjoy them. The collection has grouped together events organised by partners and introduced some new ideas to create something that offers fun and festivities and showcases a range of the town’s talents and venues.
The calendar of December events includes:
Thursday 1st at 11.00 am – Autism Plus Shop: Come and see what’s behind the wrapping paper
Friday 2nd at 6.00 pm – West Park Music in the Park Christmas Special – Join young musicians for this free open mic night. Come along to join in or come along to enjoy.
Monday 5th at 4.00 pm – Costa: Christmas poetry for children
Tuesday 6th at 5.00 pm – Costa: Acoustic performance by Alice Simmons
Thursday, 8th at 6.30 pm – Junction: Ukulele Junction will open their door to share with you a festive song or two.
Thursday, 8th at 6.30 pm – West Park Café: Fabulous festive readings with Boothferry Verses
Saturday, 10th at 2.00 pm – St John’s Parish Church: Traditional Christmas Fair with entertainment, stalls and refreshments.
Friday, 16th at 10.30 am – Tesco: Christmas Carol Singalong with Castaway
Friday, 16 Dec 1.00 pm – Goole Leisure Centre: Christmas Party fun and games with Kingsway Children’s Centre
Tuesday, 20th at 2.00 pm – Goole Library: Jingle Bells and Funny Smells Christmas story time and activity session. Christmas fancy dress always welcome!
Wednesday 21st at 5.30 pm – Junction: Join one of the pantomime characters for a fun, festive sing-along.
Thursday, 22nd at 5.00 pm – Costa: Acoustic performance with Evie Barrand.
Friday, 23rd at 4.00 pm – Costa: The Night Before Christmas read by Margaret Hicks Clarke.
