Reflections on Goole
An opportunity to contribute to Goole Civic Society’s public history project ‘Reflections on Goole’ which will create a permanent video record of the unique history and heritage of our port town is available on Saturday 9th September between 10am and 4pm on Boothferry Road Pedestrian Plaza.
Society Members will be out and about in the shopping plaza capturing people’s memories of the town and its link to the water. The Reflections on Goole project is funded by East Riding Council 2017 Active Creative Grants, in support of Hull UK City of Culture 17.
The aim is to tell Goole’s story to a wider audience and change people’s perceptions of the town. A film and other material from the project will form part of the town’s research and development for the anticipated Festival of Water. The Civic Society will also be celebrating 50 years of Conservation Areas with the launch of a new Conservation Area leaflet, available free from the society’s stand.
Copies of the Reuben Chappell Art Trail guide and the Civic Society’s information booklet 50 Fascinating Facts about Goole will also be freely available. Visit their website www.goolecivicsociety.org.uk
