The Anvil Programme: 12 month development programme available for owners of small businesses

From February 2018, the Business Forge is introducing a 12-month development programme for owners of small businesses. The Anvil Programme is structured specifically to assist entrepreneurs in the start-up phase or early stages, those wishing to grow or upscale, or those whose business is not meeting its fullest potential and needs an injection of new inspiration or a new direction.

Anvil Programme delegates will undertake a year-long series of workshops to guide them through the process of initiating the culture, processes and routines that will drive their business to the next level. The programme begins by introducing delegates to the mechanisms for effectively identifying, initiating and managing the change process. It then goes on to explore how to build an effective brand that will differentiate their business from other competitors, ensuring their brand gains recognition and customers feel compelled to come back time after time.

Delegates will then be guided through the process of building an outline plan for the future, envisioning what shape their business will take going forward and set goals for improved performance. They will learn how to measure business data in order to impose systematic management and control and will explore how to incorporate innovation and product diversification into their business plan. Finally the programme will develop improved leadership skills and improve participants’ ability to delegate authority and build a winning team of highly motivated staff and stakeholders.

Business Forge Principal, Neville Martin said “The Business Forge cares passionately for the British enterprise culture. Our aspiration is to see small businesses prosper abundantly, and we have introduced the Anvil Programme to help make that happen. But it is not a quick fix: it is an in-depth undertaking that over the course of a year will support the owners of small businesses to establish measures that will radically transform the performance of their business. Under the guidance of a course mentor, delegates will learn how to systematically inject new life and vitality into their businesses and, working with other business leaders to address similar issues, will develop a support network from which they can learn, gain experience and receive encouragement.”
