‘Goole in Colour’ at Goole Museum
Goole in Colour, an exhibition from 17 April – 16 June at Goole Museum, created by Time Travel Restorations, showcases the extraordinary skills of Pippa Stainton, an extremely talented photograph restorer who lives and works in Goole. She has a passion for local history, spending many hours researching not only the history but also the detail shown in a photograph.
For this exhibition Pippa was given access to Goole Museum and the library’s photographic collection. This has produced some stunning restored and colourised photographs of Goole.
The photos take visitors on a journey around the historic town. Unlike the original images, the clarity and restored colour gives the viewer the feeling of going back in time and seeing the town as it really was.
Debbie Hardy said : “Painstaking research and detective work worthy of Sherlock Holmes has created not only accurate colours, but also a deeper knowledge of what the photographs actually show. This is a chance to experience time travel – and you only have to visit Goole Museum to do it!”
