Get Goole Gleaming – Get Involved.

Get Goole Gleaming – Get Involved.

There are so many good and exciting messages about the business investment in Goole at present and yet some of the back streets and terraces are in desperate need of a clean-up. This is the message from ward councillors Anne Handley and Nick Coultish supported by Town Councillor Liam Mosier.

Portfolio Holder for Local Economic Growth and Prosperity at ERYC Cllr Jane Evison joined Goole councillors to discuss plans to get together a community group who will meet on a regular basis to tackle litter picking while educating and encouraging residents to take a pride in their area and keep Goole clean.

Councillor Evison has made a commitment that ERYC will come in and do a thorough swoop clean up ready for the ‘Get Goole Gleaming’ group to come in and continue to keep areas clean and litter free.  Saying “the enthusiasm shown by the ward councillors and the Town Council is great and I hope they get the support of local people and organisations on 21st September. Similar successful projects already exist in Driffield and Bridlington and I am sure Goole can achieve the same outcomes”

Cllr Coultish and Cllr Handley said “We want people to be proud of Goole but first it needs to be cared for and clean and we want to work with the Town Council, local organisations and residents to start achieving this. We are busily contacting organisations and hope that residents will want to come on board and help get areas of Goole where litter and rubbish is being left places to be proud of again”.

Town Councillor Liam Mosier said, “My promise when becoming a councillor was ‘to make Goole cleaner and greener’ and this is a great start.  I am keen to work with all the likeminded organisations and people in Goole and extend this project to cover as much of Goole as possible which includes Old Goole”
